Exfoliating is key to your skincare routine, but make sure you are not overdoing it. If you have been exfoliating your skin and suddenly start to have more acne, your exfoliating routine may be to blame.
Are you cleaning and moisturizing your face regularly, but you’re still having breakouts?
Companies have enabled consumers to exfoliate their skin from the convenience of their own homes. This has enabled individuals to incorporate exfoliation into their daily skin care routines. While exfoliating can be good for the skin, (it takes away dead skin cells and unclogs pores) as with everything, the key is moderation.
Over-exfoliating can harm your skin two ways. The first way is by taking away to much of the good oils from your skin that your skin needs. The second way is by tricking your skin into thinking that it needs to produce even more oil which causes it to overcompensate with too much oil. To prevent this, skin exfoliation should be restricted to just two or three times a week at most.
